Kudos to Pres. Elect Obama

We have hope! Barack Obama has selected Pastor Rick Warren to do the invocation at the inauguration. That is a tremendous honor for any pastor or religious leader to be selected. Evangelist Billy Graham has been the familiar pastor seen at the past few inaugurations, and now it seems there is a changing of the guard.

I believe that evangelicals, charismatics and pentecostals, can all appreciate the choice of Rev. Rick Warren, author of the Purpose Driven Life. And truly Sen. Barack Obama is the example of that book being fulfilled before our eyes.

Although, I and millions of other evangelicals did not vote for Sen. Obama due to his social policy and stands on "abortion" and "same-sex marriage," we did hold our breath that the "real" Barack Obama is a man of principles and beliefs that would not negate the principles of faith that this great nation was founded upon.

So far so good.

Choosing Rick Warren over the hundreds of good and decent pastors of other denominations shows that he is daring and he is a friend who remembers. Without that very important interview at Saddleback Church, which the church at larged watched carefully, Senator Obama may not have gotten such a large swing religious conservative vote. The key thing that stuck in the mind of those who watched that debate was when Senator Obama said, "I walked down the aisle of Trinity Church and received Jesus Christ..."

That's all they needed to hear. He was one of them.

So good for you President elect Obama. You are making those of us who had a little anxiety proud of you!

Aloha!
